There are many manufacturers and retailers that have e-waste recycling programs, some even offer gifts cards in exchange for your electronic goods. The gift cards received must be used with the retailer you recycled with or for product made by that manufacturer.

Locate a manufacturer or retailer that offers gifts cards in exchange for your recycled electronics. Apple (apple.com), Best Buy (bestbuy.com) and Costco (costco.com) are three businesses that offer gift cards in exchange for your electronics.

Contact the business to ensure it is accepting your type of electronic as a recyclable item. If so, prepare the item to be recycled.

Erase all data from your electronic device before you donate it. Gather all the accessories that go with your electronic device.

Go to the retailer with your item to trade it in. Claim your gift card.

Go to the manufacturer or retailer's website. Check to see if it offers the online recycle option. Apple, Best Buy and Costco offer the recycling option online.

Estimate the value of your electronic device. This can be done by selecting your electronic device from the "Trade-In" category specified on the website. Enter the details of your device into the designated fields.

Click the "Estimate" button to get the value of your electronic device. This will give you an estimate of how much you can expect to receive from your gift card. Print a prepaid label and ship the item. The turn around time to receive your gift card varies with each retailer. It can take up to 2 weeks to receive your gift card.
