How to Transfer AMEX Points to Hawaiian Air

American Express Membership Rewards points can be converted to HawaiianMiles.

Two membership rewards programs -- Hawaiian Airlines' HawaiianMiles Frequent Flyer Program and American Express' Membership Rewards Program -- allow conversion of AMEX points to HawaiianMiles. HawaiianMiles can be redeemed for both inter-island and mainland fares, an attractive deal for those with a large number of AMEX Rewards points looking for an economic vacation in the Hawaiian Islands.

Instructions

1. Sign up for a HawaiianMiles account at the official Hawaiian Airlines website. You can also view your account balance and redeem miles on the website.

2. Call the American Express Membership Rewards customer service line at 800-297-3276.

3. Request that your points be converted to HawaiianMiles. Provide your nine-digit HawaiianMiles account number when asked, and inform the representative how many points you wish to convert. One Membership Reward point will equal one HawaiianMile.

4. Log into your HawaiianMiles account on the Hawaiian Airlines website to confirm the point transfer. It may take a day or two for the new miles to show up on your account page.

Tips & Warnings

• HawaiianMiles cannot be converted back to AMEX points.
