Dust on a SIM card contributes to its rejection.

A SIM card is a small chip composed of circuits that stores users' data. This information is used by telephone companies to identify the phone. Most smartphones require SIM cards. Sometimes a SIM card is rejected and stops working. This does not mean that the SIM card is broken, but it is an indication that a minor error has occurred, and the card is not being read properly. Blow softly on the SIM card to remove any dust, or wipe it with a clean cloth. Blow into the SIM card tray to remove any dust.

    • 6

Place the SIM card gently on the slide-out tray. Replace the battery and the battery cover and turn on the phone. The phone should reboot correctly, and the SIM card will be recognized once again.
