If you have a Security Alert pop-up that won't go away, chances are your computer is infected with the fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert Trojan. Once the Trojan infects your computer, it launches an alert telling you that your computer is infected with Unknown Win32/Trojan and that you must download an anti-malware program to remove the infection. Of course, the provided list of anti-malware programs includes rogue anti-malware programs that will further damage your computer. The fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert Trojan disables your legitimate anti-malware program and thus you must remove the Trojan manually.

Instructions

  1. End Processes

    • 1

      Press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Escape" to open the Processes tab of the Windows Task Manager.

      End the following processes. To end a process, right-click the process and select "End Process."

      tmp.exe

      Close the Windows Task Manager.

    Delete Registry Values

      Click "Start," type "regedit" into the search field and press "Enter." The Registry Editor opens.

      Delete the following registry values from the left pane of the Registry Editor. To delete a registry value, right-click the registry value and select "Delete." To locate a registry value automatically, click "Edit," "Find," type the name of the registry value and click "Find Next."

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon "Shell" = "%UserProfile%\Application Data\antispy.exe"

      Close the Registry Editor.

    Delete Files

      Click "Start" and type "antispy.exe" into the search field. Right-click "antispy.exe" in the results list and select "Delete."

      Click "Start" and type "hotfix.exe" into the search field. Right-click "hotfix.exe" in the results list and select "Delete."

      Click "Start" and type "tmp.exe" into the search field. Right-click "tmp.exe" in the results list and select "Delete."

      Click "Start" and type "kjkkklklj.bat" into the search field. Right-click "kjkkklklj.bat" in the results list and select "Delete."

      Restart your computer to complete the task of removing the Security Alert pop-up.
