You can assign events to contacts through the iPhone Calendar app.

The iOS operating system, which runs on all Apple iPhones and iPod Touches, includes a calendar app for scheduling events and planning meetings. When editing a calendar item, you have the ability to add the event to a specific contact from your Address Book. After you save the calendar settings, the selected individual will receive a meeting invitation with the details of the event.
