How to Set Paragraph Styles in Word 2007

Microsoft Word 2007 was the first version of Word to feature the Ribbon interface, which replaced the traditional menu bar seen in earlier versions. You can use the "Styles" section of the Ribbon to quickly set paragraph styles in sections of your document. Paragraph styles define how the text in a paragraph is formatted as well as line spacing, text alignment and tab positioning.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Home" tab on the Ribbon.

    • 2

Click the Styles Dialog Box Launcher. The Styles Dialog Box Launcher is a small icon located below the "Change Styles" button in the "Styles" section of the Ribbon.

    • 3

Click anywhere in the paragraph whose style you want to set.

    • 4

Click the paragraph style you want to set in the Styles task pane. Paragraph styles are distinguished from other styles by a paragraph symbol after the style's name.

Tips & Warnings

  • To edit a style built into Word 2007, right-click the style in the task pane, click "Modify" and adjust the properties of the style to match your preferences.
