Make posting to Twitter easier by using automation.

Twitter is a great way to get more people interested in your blog, your company or whatever else you're trying to promote, but you may not have the time to tweet all day, every day. Even if you do have the time, you might enjoy the features of several applications designed to automate your tweets. You can schedule tweets for certain times of the day, repeat a tweet occasionally or set up your blog and other social media sites to auto-post to Twitter.

Instructions

    • 1

Schedule tweets with a Twitter-related application that offers this feature. A few examples include TweetDeck, SocialOomph and CoTweet. Specify the date and time you wish to post a tweet and how often you want it to repeat.

    • 2

Automate tweets linking to your blog posts -- or any other RSS-based content -- with Twitterfeed. This application uses the syndication feed from your blog to check for new updates and will post links to them on Twitter as soon as, or shortly after, new blog content is posted. Sign up for a free account and import the link to your RSS feed to start automating those tweets.

Import content from other social media sites. If you have accounts on Facebook, Tumblr, LinkedIn, check-in services or just about any other site with a social component, chances are you can link information about your activity on those sites to Twitter. Check the FAQ of the sites you use for exact instructions; most of the time, you'll just have to give permission for the site to access your Twitter account, and the site does the rest of the work for you.
