How to Congratulate a Baby for a Baptism

Baptism is a rite of admission into the Christian church. While babies cannot request baptism or actively participate in it, outside of screaming while they are dunked into holy water, baptism is a major event for their parents. And, for the babies that stay religious as they become adults, baptism is a major life event to look back upon. Therefore, in addition to saying prayers to commemorate a baby's baptism, you should also give the baby gifts that he can keep as mementos.

Instructions

1. Say a prayer on behalf of your baby, thanking God for blessing you with the baby and asking him to show you the ways to best raise your baby.

2. Designate a couple, within the church, as your baby's godparents. Take the baby and godparents out to dinner, to help them start bonding, and have them act as spiritual mentors in your baby's life, especially as he grows older.

3. Make a baptism candle for your baby, which will serve as a keepsake for years to come. Write his name on it, along with the baptism date, and decorate it, with ribbons, crosses, and any other materials from the arts and crafts store that you desire.
