How to Make Animals From Finger Prints
Thumbprints are a fun and easy way to create a wide variety of animals for children's crafts. The thumbprint animals can be added to homemade greeting cards, homemade stationery or illustrated storybooks for a unique touch. With a little bit of paint and a few of your child's fingers, you can create a whole host of adorable thumbprint animals for all your crafts.

Fingerprint penguins
-
1
You can create a whole waddle of cute penguins using your fingers. Dip your thumb into the white paint. Be careful not to get too much paint on your finger. Press your thumb carefully onto the construction paper to create the body of the penguin. Wipe off your finger and allow the paint to dry for a few moments.
-
2
Dip your thumb into the black paint. Again, be careful not to get too much paint on your thumb or the print will smear. Press your thumb carefully on both sides of the white thumbprint at an angle to create the penguin's wings. Wipe off your finger, and allow to dry for a few moments.

3
Put your index or pinkie finger into the black paint. Your index finger will make a larger print for the head, while your pinkie will make a smaller print. Carefully press your finger on the top edge of the white print to create the pengin's head. Wipe off your finger and allow all the paint to dry.
-
4
Use your toothpick or paintbrush to add two small circles of white paint to the head for eyes.
-
5
Dip your paintbrush into the orange paint. Paint a small triangle at the bottom of the penguin's head for a beak. Paint two small circles at the bottom of the penguin's body for feet. Allow to dry. Create as many penguins as you would like on your paper.
Fingerprint turkey
-
6
Liven up your Thanksgiving crafts with some fingerprint turkeys. Dip your finger in orange paint or ink. Make a small arch on your paper with your thumbprints for the back row of the turkey's feathers. Allow to dry, and wipe off your thumb.
-
7
Dip your finger in yellow paint or ink. On the inside of the orange arch, make a smaller arch out of yellow fingerprints. This will become the front row of the turkey's feathers. Allow to dry and wipe off your thumb.
-
8
Dip your thumb in brown paint or ink. Place one thumbprint in the center of your arches to create the turkey's body. Allow to dry and wipe off your thumb.
-
9
Use a black marker or black paint to add two eyes and a beak to the center of the brown thumbprint. Draw two feet at the bottom of the brown thumbprint to create legs.
Fingerprint bumblebee
-
10
Bumblebees made from thumbprints will not sting you like the real thing! Dip your thumb in yellow paint or ink. Make one thumbprint for each bumblebee you wish to create. Allow to dry and wipe off your thumb.
-
11
Use a black marker or black paint to draw horizontal stripes across the body of the bee. Color in the top one-fourth or so of the thumbprint with black paint or marker for the head.
-
12
Use black paint or a marker to draw two wings on either side of the bee's body. Add two antennae on top of the head and a small stinger on the bottom of the print.
-
13
Let the paint dry, then use white paint to draw two small circles on the head for eyes. Allow to dry and add black dots inside the white dots.
