How to Change the BlackBerry Home Screen Icons

Your BlackBerry home screen is the first screen you will see when you pick up your BlackBerry device. The screen holds between five and eight application icons based on your current theme, making these applications the easiest to launch because you don't have to bring up the main application list to find them. The icons on the home screen are the same as the icons at the top of the main application list, so if you move a new icon to the top of the application list it will appear on the home screen.

Instructions

    • 1

Scroll to the "BlackBerry" icon on the home screen and select it. This will bring up your main application list.

    • 2

Navigate to the icon that you want to add to the home screen. Once you have that icon highlighted, press the "Menu" key, which is located directly to the left of your trackball or trackpad, to bring up the menu.

    • 3

Select "Move" from the menu. The menu will disappear and the icon will have a small box around it. Scroll up to move the icon higher on your list of application. Only the first five to eight icons will appear on the home screen. Once the icon is one of the first few icons listed, press the trackball or trackpad to exit the "Move" function.

    • 4

Press the "Back" button, located to the right of the trackball or trackpad, to exit the main application list and go back to the home screen. You will see the icon that you moved on the home screen now alongside the others with one icon missing, as it got knocked out of the top few slots when you moved the new icon up.
