How to Use Google Voice to Make International Calls

Making international calls with Google Voice can be done in two ways.

Google Voice is a free Voice-over-Internet (VoIP) application for Google account users to make free outbound U.S. and Canada calls to landlines and mobile phones. To make international calls, you need to purchase credit through Google Checkout. International rates vary per country and are charged by the minute. To make international calls with Google Voice, you can use the Google Voice website or access the Google Voice phone system from your phone.

Instructions

Make International Call from Google Voice website

1. Launch your Web browser and navigate to google.com/voice.

2. Sign in with your Google Voice username and password.

3. Click "Call" to open up a call window. Select a country flag from the "Number to call" drop-down menu to insert the "+" followed by country code in the text box. If you know the country code, you can type it in directly. Continue typing the international phone number in the text box. For example, [phone].

4. Select a phone to call with from the "Phone to call with" drop-down menu. Google Voice will ring this phone when you are ready to start the call.

5. Click "Connect." Wait for Google Voice to ring the selected phone and then pick up the phone to complete the call.

Make International Call from Google Voice Phone System

1. Pick up your phone and dial your Google Voice number. A Google Voice number is one that you have set up when you registered for a Google Voice account. Alternatively, dial your access number from a mobile phone registered with Google Voice. An access number lets you access any new voicemail from your mobile phone.

2. Press "2" to make a call when Google Voice system answers.

3. Enter "011", the country code, followed by the international number. For example, 011442012345612345.

• To add credit to your Google Voice account, click "Add Credit" below the "Calling Credit" box on the left.
