How to Change the Magnification Preset in InDesign

Adobe InDesign gives users several different ways to zoom in and out on different parts of your document. You can use the zoom in, zoom out, fit page in window, fit spread in window and actual size options under the "View" menu or you can use the magnification tool on the toolbar. When using the magnification tool, each click zooms in or out to the next preset percentage. If these options to not provide the specific zoom level you are looking for, adjust using the "Zoom Level" box.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the "Application Bar" option under the Window menu.

    • 2

Locate the "Zoom Level" box toward the left side of the Application Bar. You will recognize this box because it contains the current zoom percentage and has a drop-down arrow on the right side of the box.

    • 3

Click the drop-down arrow and select the zoom percentage you want to use.

    • 4

If you want a zoom other than what is listed, click inside the box and type a number value for the percent zoom. Hit the "Enter" key. Zoom percentages must be between 5 percent and 4000 percent.
