Colored paper can help you differentiate between versions of the same paper.

Rough drafts serves as an effective tool for producing quality term papers. Rough drafts allow you to flush out your thoughts and organize your paper. Through revisions, you are able to add more focus and clarity to the essay, so that it reads smoothly and conveys all of your key points clearly. Using paper of various colors can help you stay organized during the revision process.

Instructions

  1. Tracking Changes

    • 1

Type up the first draft of your essay, breaking each paragraph out, onto its own page by inserting page breaks into the document.

    • 2

Print the first draft onto red paper. Review each paragraph, making the appropriate edits and revisions.

    • 3

Print out any paragraphs that do not have edits on blue paper. Re-print the edited paragraphs onto red paper. This will help you to sort which sections are final and which need further attention.

    • 4

Review the newly printed red paper sections and make any additional edits necessary. Print paragraphs that do not need further revisions on the blue paper. Make any necessary changes and print the rewritten paragraphs on red paper.

    • 5

Continue editing and printing changed paragraphs on red paper and unchanged paragraphs onto blue paper, until every page is now blue.

    • 6

Re-read the entire paper. If there are no further changes, remove all unnecessary page breaks and print the paper on white to be turned in.

    Tracking Drafts

    • 7

Write your first draft of the paper and print it on red paper.

    • 8

Review the draft and note any edits or errors. Make the changes and print them onto yellow paper.

    • 9

Review the draft again and mark any edits. Transfer any edits to your document on the computer and print the document onto green paper.

    • 10

Reread the document and if there are no changes, print it on white paper to be turned in.
