For tequila lovers, a margarita is the ultimate mixed drink, combining lime juice, orange liqueur and tequila in its most basic form. A salt-rimmed glass adds a complimentary saltiness to the tartness of the lime juice. Many bars serve margaritas in many different flavors, such as strawberry, raspberry and peach. Because of the popularity of both basic and flavored margaritas, bottled margarita mixes are widely available to make the margarita-making process much easier.   • Fresh lime
  • Coarse salt
  • Cocktail shaker
  • 3 oz. lime or flavored margarita mix
  • 1 oz. tequila
  • 1/2 cup ice

Instructions

    • 1

      Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita glass and dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt.

      Combine 3 oz. of your chosen margarita mix with 1 oz. of your favorite tequila in a cocktail shaker filled with 1/2 cup of ice.

      Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously, then pour the contents into the margarita glass. You may also pour it over ice if you want to drink it on the rocks. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to make a frozen margarita, throw all the ingredients into a blender, and blend until well combined.

  • Use premium tequila for best results.
