How to Travel From Vancouver to Seattle, Washington

Vancouver, B.C., is Canada’s largest city on the Pacific coast, and Seattle, Washington, is one of the largest cities in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. You can reach Seattle in three hours by car along B.C. Highway 99 and Interstate 5, but several other travel options are available. No matter what mode of transportation you use, you must pass through U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the trip. Have your passport and any other required travel documents ready when you cross the border or board a flight and land at the airport.

Train

Go to Amtrak.com on the computer, call Amtrak at 1-800-872-7245, or buy your ticket in person at Pacific Central Station in Vancouver.

Enter your travel information if you're online. Enter Vancouver, B.C., as your departure city and Seattle as your destination.

Choose your departure time and purchase your ticket. Amtrak offers several weekday and weekend departures from Vancouver to Seattle. Keep in mind that many of the Amtrak trips listed involve bus travel rather than train. Click on your preferred trip, and follow the instructions to enter your personal and credit card information.

Go to Pacific Central Station to pick up your tickets and board your train or bus. Amtrak departs from Pacific Central Station at 1150 Station St. in Vancouver. You can pick up your tickets when you get to the station. The trip from Vancouver to Seattle takes about four hours.

Bus

Go online to Greyhound.com. You also can call Greyhound at 1-800-231-2222 or buy your ticket in person at Pacific Central Station.

Enter your travel information, with Vancouver, B.C., as your departure city and Seattle as your destination.

Choose your departure time and purchase your ticket. Greyhound offers five to 10 departures per day from Vancouver to Seattle. Click on your preferred trip and follow the instructions to enter your personal and credit card information.

Go to Pacific Central Station to pick up your tickets and board your bus. Buses depart from Pacific Central Station at 1150 Station St. in Vancouver. The trip takes four to five hours.

Flight

Go to your preferred airline’s website. Major airlines such as Continental, American Airlines and Air Canada offer daily flights between Vancouver and Seattle.

Enter your travel information.

Choose your departure time and purchase your ticket. Click on your preferred trip, and follow the instructions to enter your personal and credit card information. Prices vary depending on airline and date.

Go to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to pick up your tickets and board your plane. The airport is at 3211 Grant McConachie Way in Richmond, B.C. Flights between Vancouver and Seattle take approximately 50 minutes.
