How to Apply for a U.S. Visa in Amman, Jordan
Visa applications in Amman, Jordan are processed through the local American embassy. The primary component of the visa application process is a form, DS-160, which may completed online through the embassy website. The application also includes an in-person interview requiring a visit to the embassy. The process for non-visitor visas is more extensive and generally requires more time to complete.

Access form DS-160 through the embassy website.

Complete the form. The form must be completed in English. For questions which do not apply to you, for instance if you do not have a Social Security number, you may answer "does not apply." You will be required to list contact information and provide a list of all countries you have traveled to in the past five years. You must also attach a digital color photo of yourself taken within the last six months.

Schedule a visa interview. You may do this through the online appointment system accessible through the embassy website.

Pay the non-refundable application fee at a branch of the Cairo-Amman Bank. This fee, as of 2011, amounts to $140. This must be done prior to your appointment at the embassy.

Show up for your interview. You will be asked about your application and reasons for traveling to the United States. At the end of your application, the officer will inform you about whether he is recommending your application for acceptance.
