How to Add Text to a GIF
GIF files are handy for displaying non-photographic images on websites. But sometimes a picture alone isn't worth a thousand words. If you want to add text to a GIF, which stands for Graphic Interchange Format (GIF), you can do so using an image editor such as Photoshop, Fireworks or Paint.NET. In all image editing programs, the GIF opens as a static, flattened image, so all visible layers are merged. Photoshop opens GIFs in Indexed Color mode, which produces 8-bit image files with up to 256 colors and adds aliased edges to text. You can fix this issue by converting the image into RGB mode.
