While typically used to create presentations for work or personal slide shows, Microsoft's PowerPoint may be used in other ways. A variety of templates exist that allow you to use the program to create documents such as brochures and newsletters. Users may also download calendar templates to user for any reason, such as scheduling a family's activities or developing a baseball league schedule. You can create calendars in PowerPoint by following a few steps.

      Download a calendar template from Microsoft Office.com. Click the "Calendars" link. Select the appropriate year, for example "2011 Calendars." Click the "PowerPoint 2010" option, or other version depending on which you have. Select the type of calendar that you want to create from the available options. Click the "Download" link.

      Launch PowerPoint. Use a blank presentation by clicking the Microsoft "Office" button. Highlight the "New" option and click "Presentation." Open an existing presentation in which you want to create a calendar by clicking the Microsoft "Office" button. Select the "Open" option. Use the arrows in the navigation field to locate the location of the presentation. Highlight the file and click "Open."

      Add the calendar template. Click the "File" tab and select the "New" option. Click the "Recent Templates" option and locate the calendar template you downloaded in step 1. Click the "Create" button to load the calendar in PowerPoint.
