How to Find People With Similar Interests on Facebook
Everyone has his own reasons for using Facebook. Some people want to keep in touch with close family and friends, while others want to make new friends and find people with similar interests. Finding people who share the things you love, whether it's a sport, a hobby or a political cause is easy if you edit your profile well, optimize your settings so others can find you, and take advantage of Facebook's search features.

1
Log in to Facebook and type a keyword, such as "NFL," "romantic comedies" or "home improvement," into the search box. Click a suggestion in the drop-down menu, or click "See more results." Click a page, group or profile link to view a result, then browse posts and discussions to find people who share your interests. Click "Like," "Follow" or "Join Group" on a page to join in discussions and see updates in your news feed.
-
2
Go to your profile, click "Info," then click any item of interest to view its page. From there, you can find Wall posts and conversations of other Facebook users who enjoy the same interest.

3
Click "Edit" on any "Info" category, such as "Arts and Entertainment," "Philosophy" or "Activities and Interests," then type in new interests to add them to your profile. This increases the chance of like-minded users finding you. You can later click your new interests to view their pages and find other enthusiasts for yourself.

4
Comment regularly on news feed items from friends, groups and pages. People who share your hobbies and passions will get to know you, and the interaction could lead to a new Facebook friendship.
-
5
Share items that interest you, such as links, news stories and Facebook fan pages. Post them to your Wall, and if others use the Facebook "Share" function to post the same item to their own wall, users who like the same things as you can follow the link to your profile and add you as a friend.
-
6
Click the "padlock" icon when you post something to your Wall, and select "Friends of friends" or "Everyone" to make your post viewable to others who have the same interests. Alternatively, click "Account," then go to "Privacy Settings" and "Sharing on Facebook" to adjust your settings to show as much information as you like to potential friends.
