How to Clear IE Typed URLs

Browsers such as Microsoft's Internet Explorer automatically save form data. This feature can be useful and save you time from entering repetitive data, such as your name, email address or URL. However, the saved form data can accumulate many URLs or other entries over time, and you may want to clear URLs that you have previously typed. Internet Explorer includes a tool for deleting URLs and other form data, as well as your browsing history.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Internet Explorer. Press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Delete" to open the browsing history screen.

    • 2

Click to place a check mark next to "Form Data."

    • 3

Click the "Delete" button to delete your form data.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also access the browsing history screen by clicking the "Tools" icon (in the shape of a gear), "Internet Options" and choosing "Delete" in the history section.

  • This method will erase typed URLs in forms as well as other form entries. If you want to erase individual URL entries, navigate to a page that has a URL field in a form, double-click the box and press "Delete" when highlighting a URL.
