How to Capture Audio From a Video Clip

Online video sites are receiving record numbers of visitors because they allow virtually anyone to share all sorts of videos with a global audience. If you have a favorite online video that has audio you want to extract and save on your computer, there are many commercial programs you can buy that do the job easily. However, if you want to save some money, there are also plenty of free options that can help you save audio and music from online videos just as well.

      Open your Web browser and go to a site that offers free online conversion of FLV video files to the MP3 format. Sites like FLV2MP3.com, GrabTube.com and Video2MP3.com all allow you to extract audio from FLV videos and convert it into an MP3 at no charge.

      Use the "URL," "Video Link" or another similarly named box or button to enter the website address for the FLV video you want to convert. Alternatively, use the "Upload" or "File Upload" button option to upload a FLV video file from your computer.

      Click and select the MP3 format for the output audio file. Most FLV-to-MP3 conversion sites use MP3 as the default output type. Only choose another type if you need an audio file for a specific application. In most cases, MP3 is compatible with more media players and devices than other audio file formats.

      Click the "Start Recording" button in Sound Record and then immediately click the "Play" button on the online video player. Allow the video to play on the screen and Sound Recorder to record the audio from the video.

      Click the "Stop Recording" button in Sound Recorder after the video finishes on the website. When the pop-up window appears, enter a file name for the new audio recording and click the "Save" button.
