If you want to talk to people over the Internet, you need to use the voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) service. VoIP has had many implementations since the protocol was created. Click the "Applications" folder on your Dock and then click "Skype."

Click "+" to add a contact. Enter her name or email address, click "Search" and then double-click her name.

Double-click the her name to open a chat dialog window.

Click the "Video" icon or the "Phone" icon to start either a video or voice call.

Click the "Hang Up" button when you are done to close the window.
