How to Get a GED in Connecticut
Taking the General Educational Development (GED) test is a convenient option for adults and teens who never graduated high school to receive the equivalent of a high school diploma. Once someone receives a GED certificate, it helps towards his being accepted to college or getting a better job. In the state of Connecticut, the Department of Education administers GED tests on a monthly basis at testing centers located all over the state. The test is split into two parts and can be taken over two consecutive Saturdays or two weekday evenings.

Study the subjects covered on the test. The GED consists of five parts: language arts writing, language arts reading, social studies, science and mathematics. If you choose, you can enroll in a GED preparation class that will guide you through what you will need to know. There are also GED study books available at libraries and bookstores if you would rather study on your own.

Arrive at your local testing site at least 15 minutes early on each day of the test. If you are late by even one minute, you will be turned away and will have to return at a later date. You will need to take a government-issued identification showing your date of birth, photo and signature, as well as your notice of examination, three to four sharpened No. 2 pencils and at least one ballpoint pen.

5
Wait for your test results to arrive in the mail. Results generally arrive about three weeks after the last day of the month that you took the test. If you pass the test, your GED certificate will come in the mail along with your results. If you do not pass, you will need to wait four months to retake the test.
