Mix up your family dinner options by adding some fish to your weekly diet. Tilapia is a great option, thanks to its affordability and availability in most modern grocery stores. This light white fish has a great flavor and is both high in protein and low in fat. You can add a range of spices to the fish before throwing it on the pan or baking it in the oven, modifying the fish flavor to your preference.
Things You'll Need
Take the fish fillets out of their packaging and thoroughly rinse.
Use paper towels to pat the fish dry and remove any excess water. Moisture on the outside of the fillets will result in the seasoning not sticking to the fish.
Pour your seasoning into a mixing bowl and adjust until you get your desired taste. A nice light mix of fresh salt, pepper and lime really brings out a fresh flavor in your Tilapia. If you don't want the lime flavor, lightly brush the tilapia with oil instead.
Heat your skillet to medium-high or pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees. While warming up, coat the tilapia fillets on both sides with your seasoning mix. You don't need to let the fish soak up the seasonings. They can be cooked immediately because the fish cooks very quickly and the seasonings will be seared into the outside crust of the fish.
