How to Allocate Memory Usage Per User on Terminal Server (5 Steps)

Microsoft Terminal Server is the version of Remote Desktop Services included in Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Every user who connects to the Terminal Server is logged into the system locally and will take system resources as they run programs and perform different actions. You can allocate a fixed memory usage for every user from the Terminal Services Configuration application.

Step 1

Click "Start," "Administrative Tools," then "Terminal Services Configuration."

Step 2

Right-click the name of the server you are running, then click "Properties."

Step 3

Click "Advanced."

Step 4

Click "Resource Quotas."

Step 5

Adjust the "Memory" slider to represent the maximum memory usage per user. Lower settings will prevent users from running too many applications and could cause extensive paging for that user's applications.
