How to Change Your Background on Firefox

Recent versions of Mozilla's open-source Web browser Firefox include two types of skinning functions. Skinning ability means you can change the look of the entire application -- background, buttons, fonts and more -- simply by choosing a preconfigured template, generically called a skin, and applying it to the browser. Applying a theme means downloading and applying it, then restarting the browser. You can simply change the background instead, no restart required: Firefox calls this function "Personas." Personas are free and take less than a second to change; the hardest part is choosing one.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open Firefox.

    • 2

Browse to getpersonas.com, Mozilla's official Personas site.

    • 3

Move your mouse cursor over the "Featured Personas" on the home page to preview how they'll look in Firefox.

    • 4

Choose a persona from the "Featured Personas" list or choose a category to browse others.

    • 5

Move the cursor over your chosen Persona and click "Wear It" to apply the change to Firefox.
