How to Create a Portfolio for Teen Actors

How to Create a Portfolio for Teen Actors thumbnail
Include credits from a school play in a teen actor's experience section on a resume.

A portfolio containing photos and a resume is the first and often only representation for the actor seeking an agency and management, so it must stand out and make a good impression. For a new teen actor, it is especially important. A good portfolio will showcase the teen's look as well as his or her credits and talents. As well as acting ability, singing and dancing can be assets to teen performers who send their portfolio to talent agencies seeking to fill roles in musical productions or cast dancers and singers in a stage show or film.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose four to six photos that you feel best showcase the teen's natural look. Include two head shots, one in black and white and one in color. Also include two full-length body shots in black and white and in color.

    • 2

Compile a resume that includes all of the teen actor's talents and credits. Talents might include singing, ballet or other dance forms, or gymnastics. Limit the resume to a single page. If the teen's credits go over one page, restrict the list to the biggest roles and/or the biggest productions.

    • 3

Place the photos and resume in a single-clasp envelope that is easy to open. Mail the envelope or if possible, hand deliver it to the talent agency.
