Tell them what you have to donate and make arrangements to drop off; if you donate large furniture, ask if they pick up. If you wish to donate your time, ask to be placed on a volunteer roster; you will need to undergo training.

Ask what they need (e.g., coats and food) and make arrangements to drop off at one of the shelters throughout the city. If you require a tax receipt, inform the agent and make arrangements to receive the receipt at the time of drop-off.
