Tips & Warnings
If your document has text in it already, press "Ctrl" and "A" at the same time to select all of the text prior to adjusting the formatting.
To avoid changing the line spacing every time you create a new document, save a blank file as a template. Click the "Office" button and choose "Save As." In the Save As dialog window, set the "Save as Type" box to "Word Template (*.dotx)."
Don't get too caught up in formatting. Most agents and editors won't spend time counting how many words fall on each page of your manuscript. Keep your document professional and simple, and use a sensible font. After that, it's all about the writing and story.
