Instructions

Scent Sprigs
-
1
Gather together a bundle of fresh lavender about ½ inch thick. You may also use other fragrant flowers, such as jasmine and chamomile. Herbs, like mint, also work well.
-
2
Cut a piece of satin ribbon about 12 inches long. Slide the ribbon underneath the bundle of flowers or herbs, right at the tops of the stems.
-
-
3
Cross the right side of the ribbon over the left and pass both sides of the ribbon under the flowers. Continue wrapping the flowers this way, tying the ends of the ribbon in a decorative bow.
-
4
Hang your scent sprigs on shower curtain hooks or from nails on the sides of the doorway.
Apothecary Jars
-
5
Gather up a variety of old glass jars and bottles. The more different the containers, the better. You can also find a wide array of glass containers at local dollar stores. Jars with wide mouths work best.
-
6
Fill each jar with one of your teen's favorite toiletries. Stand cotton swabs up in jars; trade plastic cologne bottles for small glass ones; and add lotions to short, squat containers. Stopper each container with a rubber cork.
-
7
Wrap ribbon around the necks of your jars for young ladies, if desired. Both young ladies and young men can paint sticky labels with brewed tea for antiqued toiletry labels. Let the painted labels dry overnight.
-
8
Write the names of the toiletries on the labels and stick them to the appropriate jar. Place the jars on open shelving.
Stamped Shower Curtain
-
9
Spread out a plain white shower curtain. The curtain must be fabric, or the ink will wash away when condensation forms on it.
-
10
Choose a rubber stamp or two for your curtain. Polka dots, large flowers and line drawings all work well. Trailing vines and shells are also good choices.
-
11
Plan where you want your stamps with a pencil. Lightly sketch circles where you want each shape to go.
-
12
Press your stamp into an alcohol ink pad and blot it gently on a paper towel. Press the stamp firmly to the fabric. Blotting should prevent the ink from bleeding. Let the fabric dry overnight.
