Disinfecting your laminated flooring and counter tops is easy

If you have children or pets, you know how important it is to clean and disinfect your laminated flooring or counter surfaces. Germs can spread rapidly if you do not disinfect your home. The safest products are bleach or vinegar; however, you can buy disinfectant sprays with deodorizers mixed into the disinfectant. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Bleach
  • Vinegar
  • Bucket
  • Mop
  • Spray bottle
  • Funnel
  • Soft cloth
  • Rubber gloves

Instructions

    • 1

      Pour two gallons of warm tap water into a clean mop bucket. Pour two ounces of bleach into the bucket and mix and then pour two ounces of vinegar into the diluted bleach and warm tap water mixture. The bleach and vinegar will disinfect any laminated surface safely.

      Place a funnel into the opening of a spray bottle. Pour the liquid mixture into the funnel. Fill the spray bottle with the desired amount of disinfectant. Place the spray nozzle on top of the bottle and twist until it is securely attached to the spray bottle.

      Place a mop into the bucket of disinfectant. Remove the mop and squeeze the excess water out of the mop. Wipe in a back and forth motion across the laminate flooring. Rinse the mop in the disinfectant solution. Continue to mop the entire floor, removing any excess water.

      Wipe the laminated counter tops, using a soft cloth to remove all the loose debris. Spray the entire surface of the laminated counter tops with the mixture from the spray bottle. Allow to sit for five minutes, then wipe the excess disinfect off. Rinse the cloth with warm water to remove the bleach and vinegar mixture. Wipe down the counter with the soft cloth again to rinse.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not leave standing water on laminated flooring. It will cause the flooring to swell and buckle.

  • Wear rubber gloves to protect your skin from the disinfecting mixture.
