How to Store Apple Turnovers
Love apple pie but always on the go? Try the portable version, an apple turnover. If you can't finish it all in sitting, rest easy: storage is simple and all depends on how long the turnover is kept. Want to eat half and save half for another day? The pantry and refrigerator will suffice. Any time longer than a few days, however, will require freezing. Does this Spark an idea?

Short-Term Storage

Wrap the baked apple turnover tightly in plastic wrap. Store it at room temperature in a pantry for no more than one day.

Wrap the apple turnover securely in aluminum foil and place it in the back of the refrigerator to store it for up to five days.

Place the apple turnover in the center of the oven at 325 degrees F for 20 minutes to reheat it.
Long-Term Storage

Enclose baked or unbaked apple turnovers in a freezer-safe, sealable plastic bag or aluminum foil.

Store in the freezer, preferably no longer than four months for optimal taste, but apple turnovers may stay frozen for up to six months.

Reheat a thawed, uncooked apple turnover by placing it in the center of the oven at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes. Reheat a thawed, cooked apple turnover at 325 degrees F for the same amount of time.

Tips & Warnings
To avoid a soggy crust for short-term storage, brush the outside of the apple turnover with egg whites prior to cooking.
Store the apple turnover filling separately, frozen or refrigerated, according to the instructions for whole turnovers.
Apples can brown if stored in a pie for longer than four weeks.
