How to Electrify a Dollhouse
Adding lights to a dollhouse adds a touch of realism that collectors and children alike will appreciate. Most dollhouse lights use strips of metal conductors built into the floors and walls of the structure to provide a current to miniature light fixtures. You also can add switches that control the lights individually for more authenticity and appeal. Adding lights to a dollhouse requires only a few tools, and can be done at the beginning of a project or as a renovation.
Things You'll Need
- Dollhouse wiring kit, including conductive tape
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Dollhouse lighting fixture
Instructions

1
Draw a line with a pencil and a ruler inside the dollhouse, marking the path that you want the electric wiring to take from the junction splice, or power supply, to a lighting fixture inside the dollhouse.
-
2
Lay out the conductive tape along the path of the lines that you've marked.
-
-
3
Locate the beginning of the conductive tape and install the junction splice from the lighting kit by pressing it into the wiring. This will be the point where the power connects from the outlet to your dollhouse.
-
4
Locate the other end of the conductive tape where the fixture is to be installed.
-
5
Press the lighting fixture's prongs into the conductive tape, completing the circuit.
-
6
Connect the power supply from a wall outlet to the junction splice.
-
7
Test the connection by turning on the power on the junction splice.
