1
Draw out your dream wedding dress. If you find a pattern for a wedding dress that you love, you can use that, but for custom dresses, you need to sketch one or cut out pictures that you can combine to create your dress.

2
Take your measurements or have a close friend take your measurements in order to begin building your dress. Make the dress piece by piece. Separate the dress into several sections including the bodice, the skirt, the sleeves, and the train.

Build the first "rough draft" of the dress in a muslin fabric. This will be the base of the dress. Pin and altar the dress to your body until you are satisfied and sew the fabric in place. The dress will not be flattering at this point.

4
Choose your fabric that you want to make the dress out of. Cut and sew the fabric to each piece of the dress. Line the dress as you desire and fit the dress again, making any last minute adjustments.
