Attach different colored bracelets for a vibrant look.

Colorful friendship bracelets are a symbol of attachment. The time and effort it takes to construct the bracelets will be a testament of your appreciation for a friend. More elaborate jewelry pieces can be built by attaching the bracelets using knots. The bracelets are knotted out of yarn or hemp, making knotting simple. Put the attached bracelets to creative use as a belt, purse chain or other fashion accessory.

Instructions

    • 1

Loosen the ends of your friendship bracelets. Each end should already have some loose string. Loosen even more by using pulling at the end knots. Use scissors to snip off the ends of tightly woven bracelets. Cut off just enough to free up the string, then pull the rest loose with your fingers.

Use simple knots to tie the loose ends of each bracelet together. There will not be enough string, or hemp, to manage a complicated knot, so keep the knots simple. For example, if you have a hemp bracelet with four loose strings, use a basic two string knot. The backward knot uses one string to make a backward, and upside down, number four shape. The other string is laced through the four shape, with the laced string lying under the number four. Both strings are pulled tight. Repeat the knot 2 to 3 times for a sturdy and attractive design.

Clip any frayed string, or unsightly loose ends. Use the attachment knots as part of the bracelet design. Keep each knot even, clean and consistent.
