How to Weave a Rope Bracelet

How to Weave a Rope Bracelet thumbnail
Turn sturdy twine rope into a woven rope bracelet.

A rope bracelet takes a fully functional material and turns it into something decorative. Rope bracelets provide an additional use for thin rope that you otherwise may use for very little. Making a rope bracelet requires little time and no special skills. If you know how to make a basic braid, then learning the steps to weave a rope bracelet will take very little time. Make rope bracelets as gifts, for yourself or just for fun.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the can on its side. Wrap one end of the rope around the can into an "X" shape, leaving a 4-inch tail.

    • 2

Wrap the long end of the rope around the can. Bring the long end of the rope under the right side of the "X" and pull the rope all the way through.

    • 3

Move the left side of the "X" to the right side to make an oval shape. Place the long string of rope through this oval shape and pull it all the way through. Tilt the can. There should be another "X" shape made in the rope. Thread the long end of the rope through this "X" shape, then pull the left side over the right side to make an oval. Pass the long rope through the oval shape. Repeat this process until you reach where you started.

    • 4

Repeat the process two more times to make a braid with three rope sections. Simply guide the long end of the rope following the original braid stitches to complete the tri-braid shape.

    • 5

Tie the two remaining ends together into a square knot by passing the right side under the left side and pulling tight, then passing the left side under the right side and pulling tight. Trim the excess ends, or weave them into the bracelet.
