How to Set Up a Payment to American General
American General offers life insurance policies to families and individuals. Their website allows you to keep track of your statement and your payments. This paperless option can help you stay organized and on top of your bills. You even have a few choices for setting up payments with American General. If you want to pay your bills online, you will need to create an online account. With the necessary information at hand, creating an account takes only minutes.

Visit the American General eService website (eservice.americangeneral.com). Click the "Sign Up Now" link to create an account.

Fill out the form to create an online account. Include your full name, contract number, date of birth, zip code and email address. Click the "Next" button to continue.

Enter your mailing address and account information. Here you will choose whether you will pay using your bank account or debit card information. Enter the account information for the payment method you wish to use. Click the "Next" button.

Create a username and password. Review your information, and click the "Submit" button.

Open your email from American General. Click the link to confirm that you want to create your account.

Go back to the American General website. Sign in with your username and password. Navigate to your statement and enter the amount you want to pay.

Open the paper bill from American General that you received in the mail.

Write the amount that you want to pay on the payment stub. Include a check for that amount with your payment stub. You may also write your credit card or debit card information on the statement if you prefer to pay with one of them.

Place the bill and payment in the self-addressed stamped envelope. Seal the envelope, include a return address and place a stamp on the envelope.

Mail the bill out seven days prior to the due date.

Dial 1-800-231-3655 into your phone. Follow the prompts to the customer service hotline.

Tell the representative that you would like to make a payment. Provide your name, policy number and contract number. Authorize that you are the policy owner.

Specify how you want to pay your bill. Clearly say your bank account or debit card number. The representative will walk you through completing a payment and give you a confirmation number for the payment. File the confirmation number in your records.
