Instructions

    • 1

Open the oven. Place one of the racks in the top-most slot inside the oven.

    • 2

Set the oven at "Broil" or "Toast/Broil." Preheat the oven for five to ten minutes.

    • 3

Place the pieces of bread on a cookie or baking sheet. Don't worry if the sides of bread touch one another when aligned on the sheet.

    • 4

Put on the oven mitts. Then place the sheet filled with bread on the top rack inside the oven.

    • 5

Close the oven door fully unless you cannot see through the oven's window. In that case, keep the door slightly ajar so you can keep a close eye on the bread.

    • 6

Watch the bread closely for two minutes. Then open the oven door. Use the tongs to inspect both sides of the bread. Flip the bread pieces over if you're happy with the color, or place the bread back into the oven. Check the bread after another minute and turn the pieces when ready.

    • 7

Inspect the turned-over pieces of bread once more after one minute. This prevents overcooking or even burning the pieces. Remove the bread once you are satisfied with the color and texture of the pieces. Butter and/or season as desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • Thaw any frozen bread thoroughly before toasting it inside the oven.

  • Don't take your eyes off the bread during this process. Bread browns and also burns quickly inside the oven.
