How to Clean and Protect Temple Leather Bags
Temple is a company based in California that makes 100 percent American-made leather and canvas bags and goods. Properly caring for the authentic leather will help make the bags last longer and look better. This involves washing the leather with products that will not dry it out and conditioning the leather whenever it seems to be dry or not supple enough. The bag will become scratched and nicked over time, but this will add to its rugged appeal. Does this Spark an idea?

Cleaning Leather
-
1
Mix 1/2 cup white vinegar with 1 cup water.
-
2
Dip a cloth into the mixture and wring it out as much as possible so that the cloth is just slightly damp.
-
-
3
Rub the cloth over the leather until you remove as much of the dirt as possible.
-
4
Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol.
-
5
Blot the rubbing alcohol over any stains on the bag. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center until the stain is gone.
-
6
Soak a clean cloth in clear water and wring it out so that it is just slightly damp. Never apply too much water to leather, as it can dry it out and cause it to wrinkle.
-
7
Rub the cloth over the leather to rinse away the cleaning solution.
-
8
Dry the leather completely with a clean cloth.
Conditioning Leather
-
9
Apply a small amount of linseed oil to a clean cloth. Do not use too much, as it will not condition the leather better and it will simply make the bag feel oily.
-
10
Rub the oil into the bag. Work until an extremely thin layer of linseed oil covers the entire bag.
-
11
Let the linseed oil soak into the bag and dry. Don't use it before then, as it can ruin your clothes.
