How to Install Adobe Indesign Fonts

Developed by Adobe Systems, InDesign is a professional-grade desktop publishing application. It allows designers, writers and editors to create print-formatted publications such as books, magazines, newsletters and reports. Similar to other Windows-based applications, InDesign draws upon the type faces installed in Windows' central Fonts folder. As a result, if you want to use a specific font in InDesign you must first install the font into Windows. Performing this task takes only a few clicks once you understand the proper steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Close Adobe InDesign if the program is currently running.

    • 2

Navigate to the folder containing the font file you want to install into Windows and use within InDesign.

    • 3

Right-click on the font file and select "Install."

    • 4

Confirm your choice, or provide the administrator user name and password and click "OK," when prompted by Windows. Once your credentials are confirmed, Windows will install the selected font; the process generally takes only a few seconds. The font immediately becomes available for use in InDesign.
