How to Donate a Gift Card Balance
Donating the unused balance of a gift card is a great way to help those in need. One charity, Gift Card Giver, is a non-profit organization started by four friends on Atlanta, Georgia, that accepts balances remaining on gift cards. This program, which was featured on CNN, forwards the gift card donations to several different charities. The group accepts any kind of gift card, in any amount.

Visit Gift Card Giver to get started. Click on the link that says "Story" followed by the link "How This Works" which will provide instructions on how to send the organization your gift card.

Write how much is left on your gift card using permanent marker. This is to let the people at Gift Card Giver know the exact amount on the card. Note that donations are not tax-deductible. However, if you send a cash donation to the charity, it can be tax deductible under the 501(c) 3 non-profit FCS Urban Ministries based in Atlanta, Georgia.
