How to Have Teens Not Go to School in the Sims 2

Going to school in "The Sims 2" is one of many actions a teen Sim can perform. A Sim in a good mood will go to school automatically. A Sim in a bad mood may need to be told "Go to School" before he does the action. Just as you can send a Sim to school with a command, you can also cancel the action and force your teen Sim to stay home. Not going to school can impact your Sim's college plans if you have "The Sims 2: University" expansion pack installed.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Click the icon on the left side of the screen that corresponds to the teen Sim you want to stay home from school.

    • 2

Watch the game clock on the control panel at the bottom of the screen. A school bus will stop at the house at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday to pick up the teen Sim for school. The Sim has an hour to get on the bus to get to school on time.

    • 3

Watch the action icons that appear in the upper left of the screen. If the teen Sim is going to school automatically, a blue icon of a graduation cap will appear. Mouse over this icon and it will show you this is the action "Go to School."

    • 4

Click the "Go to School" action icon to cancel it. Your teen Sim will not get on the school bus.

    • 5

Click on an "fun" object in the house such as the TV, computer, or game system, and choose any command from the object's interaction menu. This will keep your Sim busy until the bus leaves. After the bus leaves, your Sim won't try to go to school anymore that day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Every day a teen Sim misses school, her grades fall by one letter. For example, an "A" student will become a "B" student the next day. That teen will have an "F" grade within a week. Returning to school and completing homework assignments will improve the teen Sim's grades.

  • Unlike younger Sims who get permanently removed from the household by social services for skipping school, a teen Sim can continue to skip school until he ages up into an adult Sim with few negative consequences.

  • If your teen Sim has bad grades, he will not be able to use the command "Move to college" if you have "The Sims 2: University" expansion pack installed.

  • A teen Sim with a D or F grade in school will not be able to get a part-time job. If he has a part-time job before he starts skipping school, he'll lose the job when his grades fall to an F.
