How Do I Publish on Amazon Kindle?
Amazon Kindle Digital Publishing allows you to publish all types of text documents. Before you can publish your books, you will need to set up an Amazon Digital Text Platform account. Reformat your manuscript documents for publication on the Amazon Kindle conversion program. Make sure your manuscript documents are single-spaced, and use the left alignment text feature on your word processor. Kindle automatically justifies text documents and can only convert font sizes up to 14 points.

Use a word processing software like Microsoft Office, OpenOffice or AbiWord to rewrite your manuscript documents. Proofread your work and use the Grammar and Spelling options on the word processor to correct any typos and grammar errors. It's also a good idea to have someone with good grammar skills, read and edit your manuscript documents before you upload them to the KDP conversion program.

Convert color images to grayscale or black and white. If you're adding photos with your documents, re-save the images in JPG or GIF format. Use photo editing software to crop, resize and change the resolution on your images. Don't copy and paste your photos into your documents. Use the "Insert Picture" feature on the word processor to add images into your documents.

Review your document again, and save it as a ".DOC" file. Include a title page, dedication page, preface and prologue. Make certain the information on the title and dedication pages are centered. Use the "Centered" text feature on the word processor to center the text.

Sign in to your Amazon Digital Text Platform account. Upload your document to the Kindle conversion program. Go to the "Bookshelf" section and click on "Add New Title." After the "Your Book" page loads, type the title, publishing details, and a description of your book.

Upload an image that you want to use for the book cover. Scroll down the Web page until you see "Product Image," and click on the "Browse for image" button. Enter the file path where you have the image saved on your computer and press the "Open" button. Make sure your book cover image is saved in JPG or TIFF format. The minimum image size that Kindle will accept is 500 pixels horizontally, and a maximum size of 1,280 pixels vertically.

Tips & Warnings
Before you upload your manuscript documents to KDP, you should have a bank account established. Your Social Security number or federal Employer Identification Number must be on file with Amazon. When your book is purchased by a customer, your commission payments will be deposited directly into your bank account. At the time of publication, this is the only type of payment disbursement method that Amazon uses to pay its members.
