How to Draw Jet Planes
Drawing a jet plane in action can be a useful task for the novice drawer because it forces an appreciation of drawing movement. The use of angular lines and perspective makes a jet plane an occasionally tricky item to draw. You do not need to be an expert in drawing to draw jet planes, and you do not need too many items, either.

1
Print a picture of a jet plane or cut one from a magazine. The following steps explain how to draw a plane, although having a picture to work from makes the process easier and will help you when it comes to adding detail and color.
-
2
Draw a long line, which slopes slightly from the horizontal position. This will form a guideline for the rest of your drawing. Press lightly or use a soft pencil. Draw two more lines --- one above and one below the first line --- to form the outline of the body. From these lines, draw two lines out about 45 degrees, which will form the basis of the wings.

3
Draw the pointed tip of the plane and add the basic detail of the cockpit. The cockpit is a curved glass windshield that you draw by making a smooth curved line at the front of the plane, where the nose joins the center section of the plane. Begin also to flesh out the detail of the wing by including the wing panels. The wing panels are the small rectangular panels at the back of the wing that are used to adjust the speed of the plane. Draw these by making three small notches in the back of the wing and joining the notches together. These will look like separate panels. Also draw the outline of the tail, which is formed by two smaller versions of the wing at the back of the plane.

4
Add in the vertical stabilizer wings, which lie at 90 degrees to the rest of the plane. Begin to draw details on the plane, such as markings and the landing gear, which is a small box underneath the plane.
-
5
Color in the jet plane, and add any further details if desired. For added effect, draw quick horizontal lines with the soft pencil coming off the back of the wings to show that the jet plane is in movement. If you are shading the plane, use the eraser to create areas of shine where the sun in gleaming. Shade the whole plane, using cross-hatching or simple shading, and then use the eraser to remove areas of shading. This will look as if the sun is gleaming off these areas.
