How to Replace a Lacrosse Goal Net
Modern lacrosse is derived from the Iroquois game baggataway. In baggataway, the field could be miles long and filled with more than a hundred players, and the focus was more on injuring the other team than on scoring goals. The game evolved, however, and so did the equipment. Today the focus is on scoring goals, and the goals reflect this in their complexity. Replacing a goal net can seem daunting, especially knowing that it has to withstand 100 mph shots, but the task is doable when taken slowly.
Things You'll Need
- Lacrosse goal
- Lacrosse net
- A thick string, zip ties or string fasteners (most new nets will come with their own)
Instructions

1
Lay out the new net and find the back corner -- it will be in the shape of a triangle -- and place it over the rear of the goal.
-
2
Find the four corners of the net and loosely hang them on the goal frame, either with a zip tie or spare piece of string. This is to keep the net in place as you lace it and will be removed later.
-
-
3
Take the heavy string and tie it to the bottom right corner of the goal frame to secure it in place. Most goals will have a small hole in the frame for this purpose; however, if the goal does not have one, simply tie the string to the bottom bar.
-
4
Begin vertically lacing the same string. Run it through each square of the net and around the frame. When the top of the frame is reached, continue across it, down the other side, and around the back until the starting corner is reached. If at any point the string runs out, simply tie a new piece to it and continue. Make sure the string is taut throughout so that there are no gaps between the net and the frame.
-
5
Finish by securing the string to the starting corner through the hole provided or with a knot.
