How to Wash Nikes
Since introducing their first line of athletic shoes in 1972, Nike has successfully designed and sold many types of running shoes and other athletic footwear. Because Nike shoes are investments in your athletic wardrobe, caring for your shoes properly is important. The care instructions for different types of Nike shoes vary, according to the materials from which they are constructed. Washing your Nikes should always be done with care, as improper washing can damage them. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

Canvas or Nylon

Mix a solution of one-tablespoon dish soap and two-cups cold water. Mix the soap into the water thoroughly.

Dip your soft cloth into the soapy water, and wring out excess liquid over the bowl. Wipe your Nikes down with the damp, soapy cloth, until all traces of dirt have been removed from your shoes.

Allow your Nikes to dry completely before wearing them again. Place them away from heat and sunlight while they dry, in order to avoid shrinkage of the canvas or nylon material.
Leather or Suede

Wash your leather or suede Nikes immediately, if they become soiled with dirt or mud. Allowing the dirt or mud to remain on the shoes can damage them.

Mix together about one-tablespoon soap and two-cups cold water. Stir the soap into the water until it has been completely dissolved. Dip your cloth into the soapy water and wring out any excess liquid.

Wipe down the shoes, removing any dirt, mud or other debris from the shoes. Allow the shoes to dry completely before wearing them. To dry them, place the shoes in an area that is not exposed to heat or sunlight.
Synthetic Leather

Mix together a soap and cold water solution, following the previous instructions. Dip your soft brush into the liquid.

Gently scrub the synthetic leather shoes with the soapy brush, until all dirt has been removed. It may be necessary to rinse the brush in the soapy water and repeat the scrubbing process with the clean brush.

Place the shoes in an area that is free of sunlight and heat. Allow them to dry completely before wearing them.

Tips & Warnings
If you are unsure of the material your shoes are made from, check the tags found inside the shoes.
Never place any Nike shoes into a washing machine or dryer. These devices can damage or destroy your shoes.
