In Scott County Minnesota, official property records are kept online and information about property ownership is accessed through their website. Other information, such as the appraised value and lot size is also found at the county website.

Instructions

    • 1

Go the Scott county website at Co.scott.mn.us and click on the "Property, GIS, & Land" tab on the upper left hand side of the screen. Choose the "Property Information" tab from the drop-down box.

    • 2

Choose how you want to search for your property. You have the option of a Parcel ID or address. The parcel ID is a unique number that a county auditor assigns a lot of land in its district. In Scott county, a parcel ID needs to be an exact match to return a result, but an address does not. For example, a search for "Main" in the "street" box will return all addresses in the county with the word "main" in its name.

Choose the search result that corresponds to the property you are researching. Results are returned with four pieces of information: the property ID, the property classification, the address, and the owner. The link will take you to a new page with a heading that says Taxpayer 1, which is the legal owner of the house.
