Skype allows you to video chat with friends and family using your computer's Web camera.

Skype is a program that connects you to your contacts through online voice and video calls. Skype allows you to make online calls to a single contact or to three or more people using group conference calls and group video calls. With this feature, you can chat with up to nine contacts quickly and easily. You must have a Skype premium account, which costs a fee, to make a group video call.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the Skype program on your computer.

    • 2

Click on "Contacts" in the file menu and select "Create New Group."

    • 3

Scroll through your list of contacts that appears in the left window pane and drag the three people you want to video chat with into the "Group" pane in the top center section of the window. Note that up to 10 people, including yourself, can participate in the group call.

    • 4

Click "Save Group in Contacts" and enter a name for the group into the dialog box that appears, then click "OK." This feature allows you to repeatedly call the same group of contacts by selecting the group instead of selecting each contact one at a time.

    • 5

Click the green "Video Call" button below the "Group" pane to start the call. Once a contact answers the call, her webcam feed appears on the screen. Skype will display several webcam feeds, one for each of the friends connected to the video chat.

    • 6

Add a new friend to the existing video chat, if you forgot someone, by clicking on his name in your "Contacts" list in the left pane and dragging it to the middle pane where the video feeds appear.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click the "Full Screen" option at the top of the program window to enter full-screen mode while in group video chat.
