How to Make Glittered Truffles
Made from a variety of chocolates and covered in a multitude of toppings, truffles are an elegant-looking confectionery treat. You can cover truffles with edible glitter in any color of your choice for a creative dessert at a party or other special event and the treats are easy enough to make that you could even make them for a family night dessert. Cover the truffles in silver and gold glitter for a luxurious display or use a multitude of colors for a bright rainbow of a display. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 8 ounces semisweet chocolate
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream (35%)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Saucepan
- Oven-safe or heat resistant bowl
- Rubber or silicone spatula
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- Plastic wrap
- Melon baller
- Edible glitter
- Wax or parchment paper
- Serving tray or baking sheet

Cut the semisweet chocolate and the butter into small pieces.

Put the chopped butter and the whipping cream in a saucepan on the stove over a medium heat setting. Stir occasionally until the mixture comes to a light boil.

Place the chopped chocolate in an oven-safe or heat-resistant bowl and pour the boiled mixture over the chocolate. Let the mixture stand for two to three minutes.

Use a rubber or silicone spatula to stir the mixture until the chocolate melts. Add the 2 tablespoons of light corn syrup and stir for another 30 to 60 seconds.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours, until the mixture has firmed.

Pour the edible glitter into a small bowl. Take the truffle mixture out of the refrigerator and use a melon baller to scoop up a serving-sized ball. Roll the ball in the glitter mixture and place it on a wax or parchment paper-covered tray. Repeat until all of the truffle mixture has been used.

Keep the truffles cool in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The glittered truffles can also be stored in the freezer in airtight containers for up to 4 months.
