Update Firefox to the latest version.

Mozilla Firefox is now in its fourth revision, offering improved speed, new features and a streamlined interface. There's really no reason not to upgrade, with the notable exceptions of a necessary and unupdated Firefox extension or a computer that just can't handle the heavier memory requirements. There are two basic ways to update a Firefox installation: through the built-in Help menu or with a manual download. Both will require an active Internet connection.

Instructions

  1. Integrated Upgrade Process

    • 1

Click the Firefox logo on your computer desktop, taskbar or "Start" menu.

    • 2

Click "Help," then "About Firefox." Wait for Firefox to check the update server. The update will begin downloading automatically.

    • 3

Click "Apply Update." Firefox will install the new version and restart automatically.

    Manual Upgrade

    • 4

Click the Firefox logo on your computer desktop, taskbar or "Start" menu.

    • 5

Navigate to the Firefox download page. See the Resources section of this page for the link.

    • 6

Save the installer file to the computer desktop. Wait for the download to finish.

    • 7

Double-click the installer file on the desktop. Click "Next," then "Next," then select where you'd like shortcuts installed. Click "Next," then "Install."
